According to KTUU, three bore tide viewers found themselves stranded Tuesday evening near McHugh Creek on Turnagain Arm. Firefighters were dispatched.
The three men, who had ventured out to a rock formation to view the tidal phenomenon, quickly found themselves surrounded by rising water.
Anchorage Fire Department Captain Jeff Hoke told KTUU: "When the tide comes, it comes in at such an extremely fast pace that it's easy to fill in behind you where you get trapped on a high point and your exit back to shore is cut off. That's what happened here".
The Anchorage Fire Department reportedly pulled the men off the rocks. No one was injured. Hoke added:
"In years past, we've had people on lower rocks who were actually stuck out there and swept off with the current, and we had to pull them off. So depending on where you are, there's certainly a lot of risk involved in being in the wrong spot and getting cut off with the tide coming in."
