According to the Anchorage Daily News, a group of beavers living in Anchorage's University Lake has gone on the offensive, just outright attacking dogs that come near their territory. Beavers are generally territorial, but Alaska Fish and Game biologist Jessy Coltrane says the University Lake beavers have likely been harassed so often for so many years at the busy off-leash dog park that they've been conditioned to bite first and ask questions later. So far this spring, the University Lake beavers have sent at least six dogs to the clinic for stitches -- and worse -- this spring. City parks officials have posted prominent warning signs to add emphasis to the beavers' loud tail-slapping. Read much more, here.
