Monday morning at about 7:30 a.m., military police drove to a South Anchorage apartment to check on a service member who hadn't reported to work, according to Anchorage Police Department spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker.
After the landlord let them in, the military police found a murdered woman and child. There was also an injured man, who was taken to a hospital. The military police called APD.
"It was definitely a homicide," Parker said.
The bodies were found in an apartment near the intersection of 100th Avenue and Old Seward Highway.
Parker said not much is known yet.
"They're doing interviews now and it'll be a little while before we know exactly what took place," he said.
At about 5 p.m., an APD press release identified the victims. The murdered woman is Racquell Lynch, who is 19 years old. Her daughter, who was also killed, is 8-month-old Kyirsta Lynch. Kip Lynch, the injured military policeman who was brought to the hospital, is 20 years old. The press release said Racquell and Kyirsta were killed by gunfire, and Kip was injured by gunfire.
