'The Great American Trailer Park Musical'

Head downtown and say farewell to Cyrano's Theatre Company's longstanding stage with one last curtain call. "The Great American Trailer Park Musical" is in its last week at the D Street theater house, after which the company will move to a building in East Anchorage. The play follows a new tenant at Armadillo Acres wreaking havoc all over Florida's most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, a stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband, the storms begin to brew. Running through Sunday. $23-$25. Alaska State Fair

Spend the final days of summer eating turkey legs, riding the Tilt-A-Whirl and catching some of the last outdoor concerts of the season. The Alaska State Fair runs through Sept. 4, with special events and live music daily. Highlights include the Lumberjack Show, the AT&T Concert Series and the World of Music exhibit. Jessica Michelle Singleton

Internationally touring comedian and Service High School graduate Jessica Michelle Singleton returns to Anchorage this weekend for two hometown sets at The Hard Rock Cafe. Introduction to mead making

Anchorage Community House invites those with no brewing experience to their studio to learn how to make mead. Students will make their own 1-gallon batch of spiced orange or lemon mead. There will also be a short lecture about fermentation basics, brewing equipment, sanitation and appropriate mead yeast varieties. $35 for members; $45 for nonmembers; $10 to observe. Girdwood Fungus Fair

The Girdwood Forest Fair, hosted by Turnagain Arm Mycological Society, celebrates the common, interesting and edible mushrooms in the Girdwood area. Start the day at Sierra Club Alaska Chapter (750 W. Second Ave., Suite 100) at 9:30 a.m. for a guided mushroom hike. Then head to the Girdwood Community Room and check out one of the many talks going on throughout the day. Featuring local fungus enthusiasts Craig Ziolkowski, Kate Mohatt and Far North Fungi. Parisian macarons and buttercream

Learn how to make macarons and take some home for yourself. The folks at Fire Island Rustic Bakeshop will hold a special class for aspiring bakers looking to advance their skills. Improv anniversary

Chocolate Renaissance Theatre is an improv troupe created by comedian Kelly Lee Williams after he spent time performing improv if Los Angeles.
