Grammy-winning Portugal. The Man announces 2 Anchorage shows

Alaska-rooted band Portugal. The Man will play two shows in Anchorage in October, the band announced Tuesday on the heels of winning a Grammy for its hit "Feel It Still."

According to its list of tour dates, Portugal. The Man will play at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA on Oct. 26 and 27. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

"New Dates Announced. Hopefully we got your city THIS time," the band posted on its Instagram feed early Tuesday. "If not…. we'll break our Grammy into tiny pieces and send you a shard. SEE YOU IN OCTOBER ALASKA!!!"

Portugal. The Man is based in Portland, Oregon, but several of its members grew up in Wasilla, including John Gourley and Zach Carothers, who formed the band in 2004.

In 2015, another alumnus of Wasilla High School, Eric Howk, joined Portugal.

The band played at the Alaska State Fair in 2015 and at a free show at the Hard Rock Cafe Anchorage the year before.
