OPINION: By not shopping at AC stores on Jan. 31, Alaskans will send a message against unacceptably high food prices in the Arctic, and will stand in solidarity with families across the region who may not be able to afford food.
The governors proposed education reforms will likely erase recent modest gains in high school graduation rates and will erode the civil rights of Alaska Natives living in rural communities.
OPINION: Federal disaster funding is just a short-term band-aid for a poorly understood problem in Alaska, and it ignores an older, more complex human rights issue.
Achieving equitable education for Alaska Native peoples is a social justice issue long overdue for discussion, but the threat of incarceration just looks like more of the same.
