Missing Alaska pilot: Family continues search, sets up fund

Alaska State Troopers, along with family, friends, volunteers and the Seward Civil Air Patrol, continue to search for missing pilot Brendan Mattingley.

Mattingley, 27, was last seen Oct. 13 at the Soldotna airport between 8 and 10:45 am. At the time, Mattingly was preparing his PA-18 Super Cub for a flight to Palmer, typically a 90-minute trip in a small plane. He has not been seen or heard from since.

The search area extends from Soldotna area out to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley.

Family and friends of Mattingley are accepting donations to support the search, including fuel for the pilots who continue to look in the vast search area. Anyone wishing to donate can make a deposit in account number 140867 at the Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union.

Mattingley's airplane is described as a green, white and red Piper PA-18 Super Cub. If you have seen Mattingley or his plane, contact Alaska State Troopers or the Seward Civil Air Patrol as soon as possible.
