Abi Sisk, who was mauled by a brown bear last week yards away from the Kenai Princess Wilderness Lodge, checked out of Providence Alaska Medical Center and flew home to Utah Wednesday.

"She's sore and swollen, she's got stitches everywhere but she's doing all right," said her father Stan Sisk by telephone from Logan. "She's groggy. She's awfully tired. It's a lot of sleeping. We're trying to keep her kind of quiet and out of the limelight and just relax."
Sisk, 21, was a seasonal lodge housekeeper. Her jaw is wired shut and she has lots of stitches, her father said. The family visited a doctor Wednesday. She has more surgeries ahead to repair her torn scalp.
"It's a pretty promising prognosis considering what she's been through," her father said.
