How to submit a Compass column

Thank you for your interest in submitting a guest commentary to the Compass section of the Anchorage Daily News (compass@adn.com). To expedite review and potential publication of your commentary, please make sure you have followed this checklist:

Length: 675 words or less.

Publication permission form (pasted below): You have approved this form and returned it to compass@adn.com. (The rights we request are non-exclusive, though we strongly prefer submissions that have not appeared in other publications yet.)

Tag line: You have included information about your connection or expertise on the subject you are writing about.

Author photograph: You have supplied a digital photo of the author, if we don't already have one on file. Send to compass@adn.com.

We regret that we cannot publish every Compass submission. In selecting pieces that meet our guidelines above, we give priority to those that deal with timely issues and are written in a way that appeals to a general audience. We may choose to publish some Compass submissions only on our website.
