Julia O'Malley grew up in Anchorage and is a long-time contributor to the Anchorage Daily News. She came to work full-time as a metro reporter in 2005, covering courts and city culture.
In the summer of 2006, she launched New Faces, New City, an intermittent series about how the city's culture is changing with rapid growth in minority communities. New Faces, New City won a McClatchy President's Award in 2006.
