As lawmakers continue mulling whether or not to cut taxes on oil companies, Alaska Dispatch energy reporters this week tackled a few myths being bandied about by industry, allies and their public relations firms. Myth-busting claims in Alaska's oil tax debate, parts I and II, were the culmination of that investigation. Give them a read if you're looking for straight facts in the increasingly acrimonious, billion-dollar debate.

But this week's news wasn't all oil taxes, all the time. A veteran Alaska dog musher, Hugh Neff, claimed victory in the arduous Yukon Quest International Sled Dog Race. Don Young once again muscled legislation through the U.S. House to open an area of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling. Winter weather continued to flummox Alaskans across the state as record lows morphed into balmy, slushy, Spring-like highs.

Here's a sampling of some of Alaska's biggest news stories of the week.
