One man was beaten and another stabbed Saturday morning in a campground fight at a public use area notorious for wild teenage parties about 45 miles north of Anchorage.
Someone called troopers to the Jim Creek Pavilion a little after 2 a.m., reporting a possible stabbing. When they arrived, they found nine people packing out.
About an hour before, at "Party Island," which is about three miles from the pavilion, a fight broke out between two groups of people at neighboring campsites, investigating troopers said in a written report.
What caused the fight wasn't clear but alcohol was involved, said trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters.
Andrew Alonzo, 21, of Chugiak, had been stabbed and someone drove him to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, where he was later released. Troopers found Matthew Splawn, 28, of Fort Richardson, who suffered a head injury from being kicked and punched. He was also taken to the hospital and later released.
Troopers weren't able to locate the knife, but they did seize four guns.
"Shots were fired at some point," Peters said.
