An Anchorage man has been found guilty of murdering his friend.
According to prosecutors, Todd Tix went to the residence of 52-year-old Terry Tumbleson with a loaded handgun last year and shot his friend three times.
Tix then fled the scene and was apprehended two days later by state troopers outside Talkeetna, where Tix was found hiding under a tree.
Tix told the jury that he had been using methamphetamine since 2002.
After the shooting, he called the FBI and Anchorage television stations and told them he had killed Tumbleson over drug activity. However, authorities could not confirm that.
During the trial Tix's attorney, Scott Sterling, said he was addicted to methamphetamine and he shot Tumbleson out of fear. The prosecutor, Sharon Marshall, said he was paranoid and obsessed with the idea that Tumbleson was having an affair with his wife.
Tix will be sentenced on Dec. 15.
