Scott Ide, 43, pleaded guilty to a consolidated count of falsifying business records, a felony, following allegations that he forged the prescriptions four times between January and March and tried to forge a fifth in April.

He was sentenced to a year and half in prison, all suspended, and also agreed to not apply for or serve as a police officer in Alaska until his probation is complete, troopers said.

The Alaska Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Enforcement caught wind of Ide's activities in April, when a doctor reported what appeared to be forged prescriptions, troopers said.

Ide, who troopers said was cooperative during the investigation, is an Army veteran who told authorities he needed the drugs because of an injury he suffered in the military.

Ide became a trooper in August 2004 and was initially posted in Palmer before a transfer to Fairbanks earlier this year.
