Alaska Outdoors Weekly Hiking
Wanting to know trails of Anchorage? Are you tired of hiking alone? Do you want to include hiking in your daily workout schedule?
The Alaska Outdoors host easy to moderate social hikes, every Monday and Thursday all year, throughout Anchorage.
Monday hike is designed for hiking beginners and families with children. Hike on established wide and mostly flat trails ski-trails such as trails in Kincaid, Hillside, Ruth Arcand, Bicentennial, and University Lake Parks. Hikes are about 3.5-4.5 miles in 1.5 hours, with direct short cuts for those wanting to hike shorter.
Thursday hikes are designed for intermediate hikers, often going steep (up to 1200 ft elevation gain) trails in Chugach Mountains. Many of trails are well established; however, the hikes sometimes go on unbeaten paths. In winter, the hikes go to the same place. Most of trails are well traveled even in winter. Snowshoes are not required.
