Audition for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra
Auditions for the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra will be held Sept. 2-3. The ASO has permanent openings for the following positions: principal harp, principal trombone, violin 1, violin 2, viola and cello. Musicians interested in substitute positions for any orchestral instrument are also welcome to audition. Those auditioning should be ready to perform musical excerpts provided by the ASO office and an allegro movement from a concerto of their choice. Some sight-reading may also be required. Auditions will be heard by ASO Music Director/Conductor Randall Craig Fleischer and the audition committee. All auditions are by appointment only. Call to schedule an appointment.
Approximately 80 orchestra musicians are required for each of the five Classic Concerts scheduled this season. In addition, the ASO will perform two special concerts ("Disney in Concert: Tale as Old as Time" and silent film double feature ("Steamboat Bill Jr." and "Mighty Like a Moose"), the Anchorage Concert Association’s production of "The Nutcracker," two Young People’s Concerts, and a Neighborhood Concert.
