This year's list of Anchorage International Film Festival (AIFF) cinematic selections is a long one, with an emphasis on the "international," though a few Arctic-themed treats and an "Alaskan made" category are scattered among the more than 65 movies. And that's not even counting the animated films, shorts or "super shorts."
Jury awards are bequeathed upon films in the categories of feature narrative, documentary, shorts, animation, family, youth media and SnowDance, an offering of films ranging in length from super short to feature, which are directed by Alaskans.
This year's film festival runs Nov. 30-Dec. 9. Tickets tend to go fast and can seem pricey. Fortunately, the film festival has volunteer program: Two hours spent working the festival equals a voucher that's redeemable for one general admission film fest selection (More on AIFF volunteering).
