11 entries vie for top honors in Alaska Symphony of Seafood

Eleven new seafood product offerings from Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and New England are competing for the grand prize in the 2013 Alaska Symphony of Seafood competition, with winners to be announced at the Anchorage gala Feb. 23.

Trident Seafoods Corp. has entered its Seafest Alaskan Salmon Loins in the food service category, plus a smoked product entry, Smoked Sockeye Salmon: Sea salt nova style.

Also in the smoked products category is Aqua Cuisine Lit'l Sammies. Copper River Seafoods' entries, both in retail competition, are Roasted Garlic Alaskan Cod, and Zesty Grill Sockeye Salmon.

Rounding out the retail category are Sealectables Cedar Plank Sockeye Salmon and Sealectables Cod Fish 'n Sticks, both from Chang International Inc., and Orca Bay Seafoods' Teriyaki Style Sockeye Salmon Seafood Burger.

Rounding out the food service category are Alaskan Sablefish Unagi Style from Triad Fisheries LTD., and Salt & Vinegar Alaska Pollock Tenders from American Pride Seafoods.

Winners in each category, plus the People's Choice winners from galas in Seattle and Anchorage, win booth space and travel expenses to the International Boston Seafood Show in March.

The Symphony, the effort of the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation in Anchorage, is sponsored by a number of fisheries related entities. The event is now in its 20th year.
