Birth announcements are published as space permits. Up to two middle names will be published. All announcements become the property of the Daily News and may be republished in any format.
If the hospital has supplied the parents with a form to fill out and submit to the newspaper, the form must be accompanied by a copy of the birth certificate. The announcement and birth certificate must be received within three months of the birth. We do not require birth certificates from parents whose babies were born at the following hospitals: Alaska Regional, Valley and Third Medical Group (Elmendorf AFB). These hospitals (and all the local midwifery services) send verified lists of births directly to the Daily News.
Those looking for a publication date for a particular announcement should check the Alaska section of the newspaper daily or our Web site at www.adn.com. Those without Internet access may visit any public library to do a free search of Daily News archives. Those with a library card may access past issues on the Internet at http://lexicon.ci.anchorage.ak.us. Back issues of the Daily News are available at 1001 Northway Drive.
