The Anchorage Daily News has the distinction of winning two Pulitzer Prizes for Public Service.
The first one was in 1976 for a series called "Empire - The Alaska Teamster Story", which explored the impact of the Teamsters on the development of Alaska.
The second one was in 1989 for a series called "A People in Peril", which investigated the social changes affecting Alaska natives.
