For the first time in history, the Scammon Bay girls basketball team will play in the state championship game, and the team's coach says the Eagles are where they are because they never stop running.

The championship is set for the Class 2A girls. Petersburg advances to the championship in its first season in 2A, coming down from 3A, and Bristol Bay advances looking for redemption after a third-place finish last year.

You can't talk Ninilchik girls basketball without talking about the Leman family — coach Dan, who coached the Ninilchik girls to a record five straight state championships, and daughter Whitney, who starred on four of those championship teams.
