Fort Richardson honored Spc. Julian Berisford during a memorial service Friday hosted by the Rear Detachment of the 3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division. Berisford, 25, died Nov. 4 when his patrol was attacked by insurgents in Patktika, Afghanistan. "I feel like he was a support system for everybody," said friend Spc. Nathan Baker. "He was a very compassionate person. He was completely dedicated to all of us. Everyone in their platoon is going to remember Julian forever." Berisford leaves behind his wife, Gina, and daughter, Mya, of West Virginia.
