"Grantland'' love for retired goalie Conklin, another move for former Aces goalie Holt

Though former NHL goaltender Ty Conklin of Anchorage is retired from the game, "Grantland'' writer Sean McIndoe managed to work Conklin into a column -- specifically, how often Conklin played in NHL outdoor matches -- and you can check it out by clicking here.

And while we're on the subject of former NHL goaltenders, former Alaska Aces goaltender Chris Holt, one of the good guys, is on the move again. Holt, who surfaced in the NHL for the Rangers and Blues, is very well-traveled -- he's went up and down the NHL-AHL-ECHL ladder so often as a young pro he earned the unofficial title King of the Transactions Wire.

Holt, who sat out last season after several campaigns in the KHL, is headed to Italy in the upcoming season to play for Ritten/Renon. That will be the fifth pro league the 29-year-old has played in, and also mark his 12th different club in nine pro seasons.
