The warning siren money is directed to Akhiok, Larsen Bay and Ouzinkie, part of a $225,000 Department of Commerce grant.

The grant may also fund sirens in Port Lions and Old Harbor if there is additional money.

Kodiak Island Borough community development director Bud Cassidy said in Akhiok and Ouzinkie, sirens need to be replaced or moved.

He said in Ouzinkie, a siren will be moved to the school so that it will have a backup power supply.

Sirens can be activated to warn of possible tsunamis.
