Letter: Obama administration has been deceptive and vindictive
After the November election, I wrote that the second term of the Obama administration would represent four more stagnant years for our nation if he didn’t move to the right. The prognosis for the economy was correct, but the executive branch has not been dormant.

Letter: Oil industry requires exploration
In response to Rep. Gara’s letter on Tuesday, if all of the other states and countries would not allow the oil companies to invest any of their profits outside of their state or country, there would have been no North Slope oil ever discovered.

Letter: No cashing in on Memorial Day
Shame! Shame! Shame! On every business that has a sale this weekend. This is Memorial Day weekend, reserved for all Americans to stop and be thankful for what we have because of the men and women who gave their lives in the call of military service. It is not a weekend for businesses to profit on...

Letter: Corporations don’t deserve tax breaks
I read in your article about Apple avoiding income taxes that “in 2011, individual income taxes contributed $1.1 trillion to federal coffers, while corporate taxes added up to $181 billion.”

Letter: Horses and drivers miss KHAR
As long as we have been in business, almost 40 years, we have had KHAR on in the barn 24/7. I believed the music set the mood for both our gentle giants and drivers.

Letter: Republicans wrong on Bengahzi
I don’t understand. This week we learned the operation in Bengahzi was primarily a CIA covert operation. My understanding is that General David Petraeus was in charge of the CIA at the time of the attack. As such, is it not Petraeus’ responsibility for the welfare of his operatives...

Letter: Socialized medicine would be better than insurance companies
Do Americans really need medical insurance? In a recent visit to the Alaska Native Medical Center, I saw no insurance forms, insurance requirements, grieving patients crying over no insurance, and in general a large contingent of patients who had no concept of insurance. I am not Native, but the...
