Jewel Kilcher, hit-making singer/songwriter with Alaska roots, will perform two concerts in Atwood Concert Hall on August. 20 and 21, according to a posting at the centertix.net website. Billed as an "Acoustic evening with Jewel," the shows are presented by the Moose's Tooth and Beartooth Theatrepub. Tickets will go on sale at midnight on Friday, July 10. The price has not yet been announced.
Jewel, 35, performs using just her first name. She lived in Alaska as a child and teenager, often performing with her parents, Atz and Nedra Kilcher. She had left the state when she was discovered by a talent agent at a coffee house in Pacific Beach, Calif. in 1993. Her first CD, "Pieces of You," was released two years later and became a hit. She is said to have sold 27 million albums worldwide.
Last year she married rodeo star Ty Murray. The couple was featured this spring on the television show, "Dancing with the Stars." Jewel was injured before the competition began, but Murray made it into the semi-finals before being eliminated.
