Free screenings for kidney disease will be offered in Anchorage on Saturday, June 13, by the National Kidney Foundation. People at high risk for kidney disease are eligible for the free tests and should phone ahead of time for an appointment at 223-1562 or e-mail Kristie.lemmon@kidney.org.
Those considered most at risk are people with diabetes or high blood pressure.
The goal of the program is to detect the disease in people who don't know they have it. The National Kidney Foundation estimates 26 million Americans have chronic kidney disease and most are unaware of it.
The screening will be done at ChangePoint Church from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
