Nashville is sending its most recognizable redhead to Anchorage on June 27.
Wynonna -- known for her alto growl and sassy lyrics -- will perform during Arctic Thunder festivities at Elmendorf Air Force Base, according to Shelly Wozniak, public relations manager for the Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The show will be free and open to the public.
Wynonna, who rose to fame in the 1980s with The Judds, is known for chart-busting, genre-bending singles including "No One Else on Earth," "What the World Needs" and "Only Love."
The concert helps celebrate the 50th anniversary of Alaska's statehood. It's sponsored by Elmendorf and the Anchorage Statehood Celebration Committee. For more information on anniversary events, visit www.anchorage.net/50.
