Kat Von D tattooed her way onto our television sets via the TLC reality show "Miami Ink," then later in her own spinoff, "LA Ink." She seems to be one to evoke strong emotion: You love her or hate her. Just as many people find her strikingly beautiful as find her overdone and garish.

Kat Von D has teamed up with Sephora to create a makeup line that consists of two eye shadow palettes, six liquid eyeliner shades and four lipsticks.

I appreciate her technical abilities in her makeup application, and, as a fellow tattooed female, I appreciate her bringing body art into the public eye. She is easily one of the most talented tattoo artists of this generation.

I was excited to hear this past winter that Kat was teaming up with Sephora to create a line of makeup inspired by her signature dark, brooding look. It consists of two eye shadow palettes, six liquid eyeliner shades, four lipsticks and a brush set in a matching vinyl case. It was just recently released online and is creating quite a stir.

I find myself especially drawn to the True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Ludwig, $34, as it contains eight perfectly coordinated shades of shadow for a brown and a green, smoky eye. This seems to be a bit more wearable than the bolder blue and purple colors housed in the Beethoven Palette, also $34.

Also piquing my interest is the lipstick shade Hellbent, which touts itself as a true, blood red. Although a little morose by name, the color looks gorgeous.
