Gardening camaraderie flourishes at the fairgrounds

Saturday went well at the Garden and Art Festival at the fairgrounds in Palmer. Had lots of visitors and talked up the blog and the garden section till I lost my voice (literally).

Luckily, Ciscoe Morris, a garden guru from Seattle with a status among gardeners something like Mick Jagger (I kid you not -- when I was at the Seattle garden show in February, people were mobbing him for autographs and swooning. No offense to Ciscoe, who is a really nice guy, but I'm more of the Jagger type!), found me early on, while I still had a voice, and we talked on his weekly radio show that he was broadcasting live from the event. His show goes all over the western states, including Southeast Alaska. It also streams on the Internet, and I guess a lot of people listen that way too.

So we talked about the Talk Dirt blog and bears and moose and gardening under the midnight sun, among other topics covered on the blog. It was fun, and he made me feel so comfortable and not nervous about speaking to an audience of gadzillions!

Met lots and lots of gardeners. As Jeff Lowenfels says, "Gardeners are the nicest people." Thanks to all who stopped by and chatted with me at the festival!
