COMING UP
ALPAR and the Alaska Botanical Garden will host the annual Nursery Pot Recycling from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 in the Benny Benson School parking lot just north of the Alaska Botanical Garden, south of Tudor Road on Campbell Airstrip Road. Only plastic garden container with the resin numbers 2, 5 or 7 can be recycled. Those numbers will be in a triangle on the bottom of the container. Shake the loose soil out or rinse the pots, remove metal hangers and stack same-size pots. Nonrigid containers like cell packs or the small No. 6 pots can't be recycled, but the others will be sent south and turned into plastic lumber or other plastic products.
