The Woodland Park Zoo, about six miles north of downtown Seattle, encompasses 92 acres with almost 2,000 animals divided into bioclimatic zones. The zoo's south entrance boasts a 2.5-acre rose garden with more than 280 varieties.
Owned and operated by the city of Seattle, the aquarium offers a look at marine wildlife from Puget Sound, with an underwater dome, dive shows and more.
The mountain lodge 30 miles from Seattle sits atop the granite cliffs of Snoqualmie Falls. Trek down the wooded trails to the bottom of the canyon and watch the white water crash down 300 feet.
