ALPAR and the Alaska Botanical Garden will host the annual Nursery Pot Recycling from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Benny Benson School parking lot just north of the Alaska Botanical Garden, south of Tudor Road on Campbell Airstrip Road. Only plastic garden containers with the resin numbers 2, 5 or 7 can be recycled. Those numbers will be in a triangle on the bottom of the container. Shake the loose soil out or rinse the pots, remove metal hangers and stack same-size pots. Nonrigid containers like cell packs or the small No. 6 pots can't be recycled, but the others will be sent south and turned into plastic lumber or other plastic products.

Floral Design Workshop: Students will complete a fresh floral arrangement in each class to take home and enjoy, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday-Friday, Cooperative Extension Service, 2221 E. Northern Lights Blvd. $110 includes flowers, greens and supplies. Pre-registration and pre-payment is required. (786-6300)

Discovery Duffels: Families and groups with kids ages 4-9 can check out a duffel bag containing activities for kids, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays through Sept. 27, Alaska Botanical Garden, 4601 Campbell Airstrip Road.
