Judith and Kris Lethin

Seldovia residents Kris and Judith Lethin have celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. They were married Oct. 20, 1963, in Winnemucca, Nev.

They started their married life in Anchorage and moved to Juneau, where Kris worked as a plant manager for Chevron and then in the governor's office until 1969. He started a heating fuel business in Anchorage and has continued a career of business development in Alaska.

Judith graduated from Alaska Pacific University with a human resources degree and a master's degree in adult education while raising the family. She also obtained a master's in divinity from the Vancouver School of Theology in British Columbia.

Judith retired last year from her job as hospice chaplain for Providence Alaska Medical Center. She also retired in 2005 from her position as president and chief executive officer for Kikiktagruk Inupiat Corp. in Kotzebue.

Kris and Judith will spend several months each winter in Columbus, N.M., where they are based while doing spiritual work across the border with Mexico. Both are ordained in the Episcopal Church.

The Lethins have four sons: Bill owns TNT Bulk Mail in Anchorage; Dan is an owner of AB Wood Design in Portland, Ore.; Kris is a banker in Seattle; and Tim is a dentist in Anchorage. The Lethins also have seven grandchildren.

Delores and Donald Anderson

Donald and Delores Anderson celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September in a Las Vegas "Mini-Castle" with family and friends.

The Andersons were married Sept. 25, 1948, at Zion Lutheran Church in Olalla, Wash. Don did construction work in Seattle for three years and continued for 33 years as supervisor for highway projects. He had many jobs that required him to be gone for a week at a time, but his best interest was always for the welfare of his family. In Anchorage, Don started a self-employment construction company with contracts for individual customers.

Delores was a stay-at-home mom until the children were in high school. Volunteer work was done to benefit their children and others. One main project was transcribing educational print books to Braille, using a Braille typewriter. Camp Fire Girls, Cub Scouts, church affiliation, PTA, and friends and family are other activities that Delores has been involved in. She worked outside the home until they moved to Anchorage in 1984.

In 1985, the Andersons bought DonDee's Laundromat. Delores worked at the store but now does the business reports and payroll at home. Don did the maintenance. As the years progressed, he decided to close the contracting business and work full time at the laundromat. Don says he will continue working for many more years as well as doing renovation projects for their grandsons and maintaining their homes.

The Andersons were active in the square-dancing social life for many years. They enjoy traveling, exercising and spending time with family and friends. Don and Delores have enjoyed vacations in many states as well as Mexico, Aruba, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, and they go on cruises.

The Andersons have two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and John Ammeter of Port Hadlock, Wash., and Judy and Bill Woodland of Anchorage; a son, Jeff of Anchorage; and five grandchildren, Will and Scott Woodland, and Traeger, Kristin and Matthew Anderson.

"We are very proud we have achieved this milestone in our married life," the Andersons wrote. "We show our love and affection for each other, respecting our individual ways of life as well as enjoying our togetherness. We look forward to more years of wedded bliss."

Marilyn and Rev. Ron Martinson

Marilyn (Lokensgard) and the Rev. Ron Martinson of Anchorage were married Aug. 24, 1958, in Marshalltown, Iowa. They gathered in late July in Pacific City, Ore., to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren.

Ron and Marilyn met at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, graduating together in 1957. Ron enrolled at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn., where they lived the first years of their marriage. After Ron's ordination, he served parishes in Seattle as well as Astoria and Salem, Ore.

In 1982, the Martinsons moved to Anchorage, where Ron served as lead pastor of Central Lutheran Church for 18 years. He was elected bishop of the Alaska Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in 2000 and served until 2006, when he retired. Marilyn worked in the special education preschool for the Anchorage School District for 20 years.

In retirement, Ron has used his carpentry skills in many local Habitat for Humanity builds. Marilyn's hobbies include music; she has been organist and accompanist in many churches.

The Martinsons have four children: Joel Martinson, Anne Hancock, Sara Ericksen and John Martinson; and seven grandchildren, Brittany and Kari Hancock, Ingrid, Leif and Kirsti Ericksen, Michael Ogorek Jr. and Alyssa Jones.
