Holly and Ross Kennedy

Holly Caraway of Anchorage and Ross Kennedy of Dodge City, Kan., were married March 22 at the IBEW Hall.

Holly and Ross exchanged vows in front of their friends and families with a chocolate and wine ceremony, and a Celtic hand fasting ritual. Rick Rydell officiated. The vows were specially written by Holly's sister, Kaydee Scarola, who was maid of honor. Ross' brother, Dale Kennedy, was best man. Holly's friend, Lou Caramonzana, sang. Bridesmaids were Ashley Peck, Jeannette Smole, Jamie Smith and Susannah Miller. Groomsmen were Luke Scarola, Otto Kulm and Ron Gilbert. The newlyweds came back down the aisle to eHarmony's theme song "This Will Be (an Everlasting Love)" since they met on eHarmony.com. Holly wore the veil that her mom, Candie, wore at her wedding almost 30 years earlier to her husband, Joe. The night closed with a circle around the bride and bridegroom with lots of humorous, serious and thoughtful advice and well wishes from their closest family and friends. The newlyweds honeymooned in Cabo., Mexico. The pair went marlin fishing, zip-lining, dancing and snorkeling, among other things. Shortly after returning, Holly and Ross bought a home which they have remodeled. They have two dogs, Zoe and Zephyr.

Holly is the daughter of Joe and Candie Caraway of Beluga. She graduated from Service High School in 2002 and from the University of Nevada in Reno in 2006 on a riflery scholarship. Holly is a substitute teacher for the Anchorage School District. Her hobbies include hairstyling, interior decorating, camping and traveling.

Ross is the son of Cozette Birney of Bucklin, Kan., and Rocky Kennedy of Wamego, Kan. Ross graduated from Bucklin High School in 2000. He works for Tam Construction. Ross enjoys hunting, fishing, building and snowmachines.

Sara and John Burkholder

The children of Sara and John Burkholder are proud to announce the 40th wedding anniversary of their parents, who were married Aug. 3, 1968, in Anchorage.

The Burkholders celebrated their anniversary at Suite 100 with their children; best man from their wedding, Ed Mulcahy, and his wife, Betty; and maid of honor Sue Dabelsteen.

"Our parents' marriage has been a true demonstration of a committed and loving couple," their children wrote. "They have always been there for each other and for us, whether it was cheering on the sidelines at our childhood events or supporting us as adults making decisions for our own families. Mom and dad -- we love you and look forward to many more years with you both in our lives."

Sara came to Alaska to teach and was a teacher with the Anchorage School District. John came to Alaska to do construction and worked for the Department of Transportation.

Since their retirement, they have become active in the Anchorage Genealogical Society, traveling outside in their motor home, golfing, working on their cabin and taking care of their third child, Max the cat.

Their children include their son Matt Burkholder, his wife Jen, and their two children, Hannah and Emma; and their daughter, Melinda Myers, her husband Chris, and their two children, Luke and Sonoma.

This February, Sara and John are taking their children and their families to Hawaii to celebrate their anniversary.
