New York City police detective Gerry Kluberdanz wrote by e-mail that Baranovics would not sign an extradition waiver.

The means the process of moving Baranovics back to New York could be extended up to three months while the New York district attorney seeks a governor's warrant in Alaska.

Baranovics is wanted in New York for an armed robbery that took place in 2004.

He faces other charges when he arrives in New York.

Alaska State Troopers used pepper spray to roust Baranovics from his hiding place in the Butte home Feb. 7. He's been in the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility since then. He is scheduled for a status hearing at 2 p.m. today in Palmer District Court.
