URS Corp. said today it has acquired most of the assets of Tryck Nyman Hayes Inc., an Anchorage engineering firm. The acquisition price was not immediately available.
Tryck Nyman Hayes has about 60 employees, including engineers, landscape architects and surveyors. It serves both government and private-sector clients.
URS is a San Francisco-based engineering, construction and technical services business with more than 50,000 employees and global operations. Last year its revenue totaled $5.4 billion and profits were $132 million, according to financial statements filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
The acquisition positions both companies better for Defense Department and private pipeline projects in Alaska, said Gary V. Jandegian, president of the URS Division, one of three business arms of URS.
Tryck Nyman Hayes has long been a leader in engineering services in Alaska. It was founded in 1953, URS said. State corporate records show the principal shareholders as Ted B. Trueblood, Michael J. Shoemaker and Norman K. Gutcher.
