Greenware Alaska has opened in Anchorage to provide biodegradable and compostable products for food retailers, event planners and other clients, said owner Deborah O'Leary. Products include a full line of cups, plates, utensils, bags and other containers made from raw materials such as sugarcane, corn, potato, tapioca, all of which decompose naturally, O'Leary said.

Greenware Alaska recently supplied cups to the Alaska Run for Women and the Big Wildlife Run, and plates and cutlery to the Alaska Botanical Garden Gala.

The company provides discounts to Green Star members who purchase the company's products for employee use and events.

At least eight Anchorage restaurants use Greenware Alaska products, including Middle Way Cafe and the Bear Tooth Theatre Pub and Grill. To contact the company, call 351-4195 or go to www.greenwarealaska.com.
