Brig. Gen. Deborah C. McManus
Brig. Gen. Deborah C. McManus, assistant adjutant general of the Alaska Air National Guard, is now the new Alaska's women veterans coordinator and will work to ensure women's issues are fully recognized and addressed. McManus will work with the Alaska Veterans Office to raise awareness and advocate for the nearly 8,000 members of Alaska's 75,000 veterans. She will perform her duties at the Alaska National Guard Headquarters building on Fort Richardson.
John Fugett, MA LPC, was promoted to director of adult services at Anchorage Community Mental Health Services Inc. Fugett is responsible for all the adult continuum programs at ACMHS. Fugett was a clinical manager at ACMHS prior to the promotion. He has been a licensed clinician since 1996 and has worked in community mental health for 11 years.
First Alaskans Institute names Liz Cheney, Tlingit and Haida, as director of the Alaska Native Policy Center. Cheney will lead the development and operation of this Native "think tank" and research information center. She will oversee the creation, distribution and application of research and analysis of issues important to Alaska Natives. Cheney received her bachelor's degree from Fort Lewis College, Durango, Colorado, and her law degree from Arizona State University College of Law in Tempe.
