Veteran police Lt. David L. Parker, 57, will assume the responsibilities of the Anchorage Police Department director of public affairs, replacing Lt. Paul Honeman, who retires effective today. Joining APD in 1995, Parker served on the Mountain View Community Action Police Team, as a patrol officer, detective, investigator, and most recently as the commander of the Special Victims, Crimes Against Children and Cyber Crimes Units. He was promoted to lieutenant in January 2007. Honeman is a 23-year municipal employee who served 22 years at APD, the last three as director of public affairs and spokesperson for the department.

Don McKenzie, Realtor at RE/MAX Properties, was named the 2008 Realtor of the Year by the Alaska Association of Realtors. This award honors an individual who has displayed high principles, ethics and good real estate practices, leadership qualities with local, state and National Association of Realtors, involvement in civic activities and business accomplishments.

Andrew Mayo, Ph.D, was named the CEO of North Star, an acute and residential behavioral health provider in Alaska serving children and adolescents. He holds a doctorate in counseling psychology and a master's in counseling and personnel services from the University of Memphis. He has worked in behavioral health for 25 years in various clinical and administrative positions, primarily in hospitals.

Alaska Open Imaging Center welcomes new radiologist, Dr. Kamran Janjua, to their team of physicians. Janjua is a board certified radiologist who received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Texas A&M University. He then attended the University of Texas and received his medical degree, followed by radiology residency at the University of Iowa. He will practice at Alaska Open Imaging Center's Anchorage Facility.

Kimberly Upton has joined the practice of Richard Crosby, DDS, as a dental hygienist. She earned her dental hygiene certificate, associate of applied science at Mt. Hood Community College in Oregon in May 2008. Upton will work with patients on oral hygiene, preventive maintenance and periodontal care.

The Prince of Wales Tribal Enterprise Consortium has announced the hiring of Greg Gould as the new environmental and planning division director. Gould will open the company's Anchorage office. He has more than 20 years experience in community-based work. He was recently a program manager with the State Department of Environmental Conservation and the planning manager at the Division of Homeland Security.
