The state's largest construction organization, the Associated General Contractors of Alaska, recognized its top construction projects, safety programs and individuals during its annual conference in Anchorage last week.
Phil Anderson of Fairbanks was named winner of the Hard Hat Award, given annually to a member who has demonstrated exemplary service to the association, the community and the industry. Anderson owns the Phil Anderson Co. and was previously with Exclusive Landscaping and Paving Inc.
Winners of Excellence in Construction Awards were:
Buildings over $15 million -- Davis Constructors and Engineers Inc. of Anchorage for the Providence Alaska Medical Center Creekside campus expansion.
Buildings $5 million to $15 million -- Unit Company of Anchorage for Knik Goose Bay Elementary School.
Buildings under $5 million -- Roger Hickel Contracting Inc. of Anchorage for Safeway Jewel Lake remodel.
Transportation, Marine, Heavy, Earthmoving over $3 million -- Brice Inc. of Fairbanks for the Point Lay Airport improvement.
Transportation, Marine, Heavy, Earthmoving under $3 million -- Roger Hickel Contracting for Fish Creek/Cuddy Family Midtown Park improvements.
Specialty Contractor/Transportation, Marine, Heavy, Earthmoving -- American Marine Corp., Anchorage for Cook Inlet Icebreaker Project.
Specialty Contractor/Vertical -- The Superior Group Inc. of Anchorage for Providence Alaska Medical Center SW campus expansion, phase II.
Sustainability in Construction -- Davis Constructors and Engineers for J.L. Tower Office Building.

Large contractors -- Neeser Construction Inc., Anchorage.
Medium contractors -- Brice Inc.
Small contractors -- Coldfoot Environmental Services Inc., Anchorage.
Individuals -- Fabiola P. Membrilla, West Construction, Anchorage.
