Lane Powell is pleased to announce that Andrea E. Girolamo-Welp has been elected to shareholder. Girolamo-Welp focuses her practice on commercial litigation with an emphasis in insurance defense, including bad faith litigation and coverage issues, environmental law, products liability defense and more. She received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston University School of Law and her bachelor of arts degree from Yale University.

Michael L. Foster & Associates Inc., an Alaskan-owned and -operated architecture and engineering firm, has hired James Smith, P.E., as a senior civil engineer. Smith has more than 35 years of experience in construction and more than 20 years in project management. He specializes in civil, environmental, structural and geotechnical engineering.

Stephanie Sherman was named retail sales branch manager at Denali Alaskan Federal Credit Union's Eagle River Wal-Mart branch, located inside the Wal-Mart store at 18600 Eagle River Road. In her new role, she is responsible for fostering a sales environment among staff and managing overall branch operations to include member transactions, consumer loans, new account openings and member problem resolution.

Aleutians East Borough Mayor Stanley Mack is pleased to announce the borough has appointed Sharon Boyette as the new borough administrator, effective Jan. 1. Boyette will be promoted from her current position as the borough's community development director, a job she has held for 17 years. Boyette will take the helm after current administrator Bob Juettner retires at the end of December.

Scott Torrison, CIRI Alaska Tourism Corp.'s chief operating officer, has been named Bristol Bay Native Corp.'s senior vice president and chief operating officer starting in January. He will step down from his current position at the end of the year. Torrison joined CIRI in 1989. He took charge of CIRI's Alaska tourism division in 2003. CIRI Alaska Tourism Corp. is CIRI's wholly owned Alaska tourism company and Southcentral Alaska's largest shore-based tour operator.

The Northern Lights Alaska Chapter of the American Payroll Association has announced that Matt Edman, senior consultant at Arctic Information Technology, has earned his Fundamental Payroll Certification from the APA's certification board. Matt has worked in the payroll profession for 15 years. His primary responsibilities consist of implementing financial, payroll and HR software systems where he assists customers with all their needs.
