The Northern Lights Alaska Chapter of the American Payroll Association announced that Lauran Gularte, payroll technician at AKMAAQ LLC has earned her Certified Payroll Professional certification from the APA's certification board. Gularte has been working in the payroll field for 10 years. She has payroll experience in all 50 states.

The Anchorage Cabaret, Hotel, Restaurant, & Retailers Association held its annual election for board directors recently. Elected were John Pattee of the Gaslight Lounge & Avenue Bar, president; Bob Winn of Blue's Central, vice president; Lowell Shinn of Brown Jug, re-elected as treasurer; and Doran Powell of Chilkoot Charlies, secretary. Directors elected are Ivan Ramos of Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant, Leroy Hayden of Crazy Horse, Chuck Edwards of the Petroleum Club, Ed O'Neill of the Anchorage Responsible Beverage Retailers Association, Bernadette Bradley of Bradley House and past-president, Basilio Gallo of La Cabana & La Hacienda Mexican Restaurants, Carol Hartman of Club Elixir and Fantasies on Fifth, Solomon Loosli of Kinleys' Restaurant & Bar, and Glenn Kent Jr. of the Long Branch Saloon.
R&M Consultants Inc. has announced that, with the addition of Teri Arion, the company adds GIS to its services. Arion joined R&M as a GIS specialist in our Earth Sciences Department. She comes to R&M from the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, Division of Oil and Gas, where she served as a cartographer. Also hired was Will Rhodes, E.I.T., as an environmental engineer. Rhodes received his M.S. in environmental engineering and his B.S. in geology, both from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Mark Aimonetti, PLS, joined R&M's surveying and mapping department as a senior land surveyor. He has more than 11 years of experience in field and office work.
