Chugach Electric Association has announced a promotion and a new hire. Dustin Highers was named director, Power Supply Technical Services. He will oversee the development of new generation while providing project management and engineering support the department. He has been the acting director of the department since December 2007. Theresa Quigley joined the utility as manager, plant accounting. She previously worked as an associate controller for Sierra Southwest Cooperative Services Inc., in Benson, Ariz., since 1995.
Sam Robert Brice of Fairbanks has been elected president of the Associated General Contractors of Alaska. Brice, an owner of the family-owned Brice Inc., will serve for the next calendar year along with the executive board, which is composed of Dave Cruz, Cruz Construction, Palmer, vice president; George Tuckness, Neeser Construction, Anchorage, secretary; Tony Johansen, Great Northwest, Fairbanks, treasurer; John Eng, Cornerstone Construction, Anchorage, contractor-at-large; Dick Engebretson, Aurora Construction Supply, Fairbanks, associate member; and Roger Hickel, Roger Hickel Contracting, Anchorage, immediate past president.
Horizon Lines Inc., a shipping and integrated logistics company, announced two recent promotions. Marion Davis has been promoted to vice president and director of operations, Alaska, and will be tasked with additional organizational responsibilities for terminal operations in Tacoma, Wash., and Anchorage, Kodiak and Dutch Harbor. Davis previously held the position of director of operations, Alaska. The company is combining the Alaska and Hawaii/Guam tradelanes under the leadership of Kenneth Privratsky as senior vice president, Pacific Group. Privratsky was promoted from his previous position as senior vice president, Alaska Division. Prior to joining Horizon Lines, Privratsky retired from the U.S. Army, where he held the rank of major general.
