The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska, Montana, Northern Idaho and Washington, a nonprofit organization that grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions, has announced that Amy Fredeen has joined the board of trustees. Fredeen is a graduate of Gonzaga University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. She is a Certified Public Accountant and chief financial officer for Cook Inlet Tribal Council Inc.

Jen Tuomi, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, has joined her father, Dr. Jack Tuomi, in practice at the Highland Animal Clinic. She graduated May 2 from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, Her mother, Dr. Pam Tuomi, is the senior veterinarian at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward. Her uncle, Dr. John Tuomi, is the Palmer veterinarian and owner of the Palmer Veterinary Clinic since 1981. She passed her National Veterinary Board Examination last January.
Ginger Shoopman has joined the Jewel Lake Road office of Edward Jones as a financial adviser. Ginger comes to Edward Jones as an experienced financial adviser from UBS. She will offer services including annuities, bonds, equity and mutual fund investing; personal and business retirement plans, education savings and life insurance She holds a Master of Business Administration. She is a past board member of IMA and Alaska Women's Resource Center and currently volunteers for the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
R&M Consultants Inc. has announced that Paul Hetzel, P.E., has been promoted to construction administration group manager. He will be responsible for management and development of the group, which includes promoting relationships with new and existing clients. Along with marketing construction administration services, he is also responsible for recruitment, managing project work, coordination of staff, and promoting and ensuring quality on all projects and work performed by his staff.
Matthew Block has joined Lane Powell as an associate in the litigation practice group. Block has experience in a broad range of business and litigation matters, with particular emphasis on oil and gas, employment, Alaska Native corporations and small business needs, and copyrights and trademarks. He has counseled both large and small commercial clients in issues dealing with copyright, trademark, corporate issues and employment. Block earned his J.D., cum laude, from Duke University School of Law.
