Irene Washington has joined the staff of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Alaska VA Healthcare System as a rural veteran liaison. Washington will be based in Bethel, at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corp. In her position as RVL, she will be a local point of contact representing the VA to serve veterans in the region to assist with VA applications for health care and benefits.

The board of trustees of the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals of Princeton, N.J., has awarded Ron Jones, doing business in Anchorage as Ron Jones Enterprises, the Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) certification. Jones joins more than 600 CCIFPs across the United States and is the only certificate holder in Alaska. CCIFP certificate holders have demonstrated their commitment to excellence and mastery of the knowledge required of today's construction financial professional.

BGES Inc., a provider of environmental consulting services, has announced three new additions to its staff. Jayne Martin has joined the company as a senior environmental scientist. Martin, who will manage projects in all areas of the environmental field, has more than 20 years of experience and is a senior geologist. Christina Sargent has joined BGES as an environmental scientist. Sargent has 10 years of experience in the environmental field, with an extensive background in risk assessment. Brian Englund has joined BGES as an environmental scientist and project chemist. Along with this expansion in staff, BGES has moved to 1042 E. Sixth Ave. in Anchorage.

USKH Inc. recently announced the addition of Bruce Beck as manager of the environmental services division. He works from the Anchorage office leading all USKH's environmental efforts in both Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. Beck has more than 20 years of experience in the environmental and construction industry. As a certified environmental inspector and environmental specialist, he has completed more than 100 environmental assessments for property transactions and managed numerous release investigations.

The Bureau of Land Management-Alaska's Anchorage District manager Gary Reimer was recently honored as a 2009 Take Pride in America National Award recipient in a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Reimer is one of 15 national award winners who represent projects and events in 11 states. Reimer received the Federal Land Manager Award for his promotion of volunteerism, youth participation and partnership development. Reimer oversees the administration of 25 million acres of BLM-administered public lands in Alaska. Under Reimer's direction, the Anchorage District hosted four successful Take Pride in America events in 2008 that drew record numbers for participation.
