• Providence Health & Services Alaska announced recently that Joel Gilbertson, chief administrative and strategy officer, has taken a position as vice president, government and public affairs, for the Providence system in Renton, Wash., effective Sept. 1. Bruce Lamoureux, chief executive of Providence Alaska Medical Center, was named chief operating officer for the Alaska region effective Aug. 1. Dr. Dick Mandsager, executive director of the Children’s Hospital at Providence, was named chief executive of Providence Alaska Medical Center, effective Aug. 10. In his new role, Gilbertson will manage government relations and public affairs for the five-state Providence Health & Services system. Gilbertson has been with Providence Alaska since 2005. Lamoureux has been with Providence Alaska since 2006 when he became chief executive for Providence Alaska Medical Center. Mandsager served as the director of the state Division of Public Health from 2004 to 2006. Prior to his state service he worked in various managerial and clinical positions at Southcentral Foundation and Alaska Native Medical Center.

• Alaska Communications Systems Group Inc. announced the appointment of Paul G. Johnson as assistant general legal counsel for corporate affairs. Johnson acts as lead attorney for ACS on all corporate and Securities and Exchange Commission matters, with responsibility for corporate filings and related compliance issues. He brings more than 18 years of corporate securities experience to ACS.

• McClintock Land Associates Inc., a survey and mapping firm in Eagle River, announced that long-time staff members John Copenhaver and Craig Hanson both recently became registered as professional land surveyors in Alaska. Copenhaver has worked at MLA for over 15 years. Hanson has been a staff member of MLA for seven years. Also, MLA promoted Michael Miller, PLS, to senior project manager. Miller joined MLA in August 2008 after retiring from the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities as the central region survey manager. McClintock recently moved to its new location at 16942 N. Eagle River Loop Road.

• Shareen Crosby, formerly the operations manager for Blockbuster Video for 17 years, has joined Anchorage Community Theatre as assistant to the managing director. She will help with all aspects of running the theater, including securing grants and coordinating volunteers.

• Valerie Mays has joined Stewart Title of Alaska as an escrow officer. She brings over 11 years of mortgage lending and escrow closing experience. Mays will run the Eagle River branch.

• Heath E. Hilyard was recently hired by the Associated Builders and Contractors, Alaska, as director of membership and special events. Previously, Heath worked for Advanced Supply Chain International as manager of business development and external affairs. Before that, he was a legislative aide for the state House of Representatives. He will be responsible for membership recruitment and retention, as well as event management.
