• Judith Crotty has been named to manage Wells Fargo's community development lending and investment activities for Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana, in addition to Alaska. Crotty has been with Wells Fargo in Alaska for 27 years. She has served as Wells Fargo's Alaska community development manager and Community Reinvestment Act officer since 2002. She began her career as a teller in Fairbanks and has served as an operations manager, merger and acquisition project manager and Russian business development specialist.

• Mary Ann Hanson, public relations director for Municipal Light & Power, was recently elected president of the Alaska Chapter, American Marketing Association, for 2009-2010. • Dale Smythe, AIA, an architect and project manager for USKH Inc., recently accepted the Honor Award for the Eielson Air Force Base Physical Fitness Center addition and alteration at the Air Force 2009 Design Awards. The Honor Award is the highest level of recognition given by the Air Force Design Awards Program. The 79,000-square-foot Eielson Air Force Base Fitness Center in Alaska is a design/build remodel and addition project. Teaming with contractor Alcan General, USKH provided all design services for the project.
• The Embassy Suites Anchorage has hired Tommy Thompson as executive chef. Chef Thompson went to sea in 2004 with the Princess Cruise Lines in Alaska. Based in Denali, Chef Thompson was the youngest-ever executive chef for Princess. In 2006, Chef Thompson opened the King Salmon restaurant, the new culinary flag ship for Princess in Alaska. Chef Thompson is an advocate for using sustainable Alaskan seafood and supporting local Alaskan markets and purveyors.
• The Consulate of Canada, Anchorage has announced the arrival of its new consul, Jennifer Loten, who succeeds Karen Matthias. A career diplomat, Loten joined Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1997. She has served at DFAIT's headquarters in Ottawa, Canada, and overseas, notably as Canada's coordinator for the 4th Summit of the Americas and as Canadian representative to the Kimberley Process rough diamond certification scheme.
• The Crucial Links chapter of Business Networking International recently announced the appointment of Ron "Cat" Mason of CM&A Marketing and Advertising Consultants to vice president. Mason will head the Crucial Links membership team, focused on bringing in new members to join this business referral organization. Mason is a retired Air Force veteran with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Management with an emphasis on sales and marketing. Founded in 1985, BNI is the largest business networking organization in the world.
• Commonwealth North has named Jim Egan as executive director. He attended Gonzaga University before joining the staff of U.S. Senator Ted Stevens in 1998. In 2005, he became state director. His 11 years of service to Alaska while working for Sen. Stevens has given him a broad base of contacts and knowledge about Alaska's issues that will bring great value to the Commonwealth North. Prior to joining Commonwealth North, Egan was an active partner in Chugach Financial Services, a family business focused on financial planning.
• Parker, Smith & Feek has announced that Greg Loudon and Colleen Savoie have joined their employee benefits team as account executives. Both Loudon and Savoie will be based in the Anchorage office. Savoie has more than 13 years' experience including several years with national brokers. Her expertise is in working on plans for employers with multiple divisions and bargaining units, various funding mechanisms, provider contracting, flexible benefit plans and benefit administration. Loudon's experience includes both insured and self-insured health plans, active and retiree groups, insurance issues and the placement for life and other ancillary benefits.
