Claman took over the mayor's job on Saturday from U.S. Sen.-elect Mark Begich. On Monday, Claman said his new staff picks are "experienced and proven" executives who will help ensure a smooth transition in the mayor's office.
Patty Ginsburg, a longtime public relations specialist, will be Claman's chief of staff.
Former state District Judge Nancy Nolan will be senior policy adviser.
Joining as Claman's special assistant: former state director of the American Lung Association Marge Larsen.
Ginsburg previously worked as marketing director for Municipal Light & Power and as vice president for public relations at the local firm Northwest Strategies.
In addition to her former judicial post, Nolan also served as a state assistant attorney general, magistrate and private attorney.
Larsen was the director of the state office of the American Lung Association for four years -- she left that job in 2008 -- and was its communications director for three years.
