One man died and another was critically injured in a car crash at about 8:50 p.m. Sunday on the Seward Highway at Tudor Road, say Anchorage police.
It was the first confirmed traffic fatality of the year, said Anchorage Police spokesman Dave Parker.
Only one vehicle appeared to be involved in the crash, Parker said. The car was headed south on the Seward and hit the median.
"It landed across the inbound lanes," he said.
Police were not identifying the two victims Sunday night. The driver, who was ejected from the car, was in his late 20s. The passenger was in his 60s, Parker said.
The accident blocked and delayed traffic on the Seward Highway. Because of the extensive damage, Parker couldn't immediately tell the make and model of the car.
